Dear Students
As of 2025, our School, which we are excited to celebrate the 49th anniversary of its establishment, was established in 1976 as Antalya Vocational School affiliated to the Ministry of National Education and joined Akdeniz University in 1982. In 1993, Antalya Vocational School was divided into two as Technical Sciences and Social Sciences Vocational School. Therefore, our school has been continuing its education and training activities as Vocational School of Social Sciences since 1993. The campus area of our school is 27,000 m2 and the area where education and training activities are carried out and the closed area where the staff offices are located is 8,000 m2. Our school currently has a total of 88 staff, including 64 academic staff and 24 administrative staff. As of 2025; In our school, education is carried out in a total of 14 programs, including 13 formal education and 1 distance education program. These programs are carried out in 5 blocks, 27 classrooms, 4 computer laboratories and 2 multi-purpose mini conference halls.
Our school brings together our students, graduates and sector stakeholders with the most established traditions of "Traditional Pilaf Day" and "Career Day" organized every year. As the Social Sciences Vocational School family, we are happy and proud to have such a tradition in our roots. We attach great importance to preserving and maintaining traditions at the point of institutionalization, sense of belonging and loyalty. In addition, another important step was taken for our students and graduates with our Akdeniz University Vocational School of Social Sciences (SOBİLMED) association, which we established in 2022. Our main goal is to provide our students with the necessary high-level knowledge, skills and competence with our education and training programs carried out in our school. In addition to ensuring that our students become qualified graduates who think analytically , who can quickly keep up with new formations and changes, we also attach great importance to organizing activities that will support their personal development. As it is known, the most important factor for countries to have a say in the world is to have a qualified human workforce. At this point, Vocational Schools are seen as one of the most important institutions that contribute to creating a qualified workforce. Because in vocational education and training, it is essential to learn by doing, or to turn knowing into being able to do. Therefore, vocational education is focused on completing theoretical education with practical training and directing it to employment.
Therefore, our main goal is to ensure that our students graduate as "wanted staff" by internalizing the "Education in the Sector, Education with the Sector" approach in order to provide our students with high- level knowledge, skills and competence with our education and training programs carried out in our college. Within the scope of Education in the Sector, Education with the Sector, practices such as regular and systematic curriculum updates, transition to the 3+1 application, and more effective execution of internships are among our priorities. In this context, we know that in order for our students to gain the qualifications that can meet the needs of the sector in vocational education, it is important that our relations with the sector are strong and sustainable and that the bridge between sector expectations and vocational education can remain up-to-date.
For this reason, we find the contributions of our stakeholders, especially our sector representatives and graduates, to our updating processes in our curricula very meaningful and valuable, and we attach great importance to their contributions. For the active participation of our sector representatives and stakeholders in the process, we take care to update our curricula with the contributions of the Advisory Boards we have established within our programs and to continue our efforts to make them compatible with national- international occupational standards in a systematic and regular manner. I would like to thank our Rector Prof. Dr. Özlenen ÖZKAN for her strong support in matters related to the education and infrastructure of our School.
With love...
Prof.Dr. BURHAN ÖZKAN
Director
